Charlene, Alvina, and families,
I was so sorry to hear of Gordon's passing and that I was unable to attend his service. I have fond memories of Gordon and the entire Strand family as we grew up just a few miles apart. Although Gordon was Alvin's age, I remember him at church and Farmer's Union function's or stopping in at your farm with my folks so Dad could visit Archie and Mom, visit with Effie. Gordon was always very kind and had a ready smile. My sympathy to all of you.

Charlene and Jeff and family--
I read in this morning's Bismarck Tribune that Gordon passed away. We knew he was a sick soul. I have many, many fond memories of hauling grain for several harvests at Bonetraill with Gordon and the Breviks. Charlene, you made many great lunches for us, and Jeff you were always near by to help the "city" guy with whatever problems came up. Gordon was truly, truly a good man. We'll all remember him for the rest of our lives. That's what immortality means. Yes, a fine man, who is up there some where, still, with one foot in the furrow, I'm sure!

My deepest sympathy to Charlene and family. Gordon was a generous man with a big heart and a ready smile. No doubt your life together has blessed you with many precious memories, and I know he will be missed. May you find joy in sharing these stories and comfort and peace in knowing that he has moved on to his heavenly home.

Although Gordon and Alvina are really our 2nd cousins - they were more like 1st cousins because they lived near us (Rustads_) and we all belonged to the same church. Gordon was a great favorite! of mine! I loved his sense of humor, his decency and his good memory. He had traits of both his parents. When My husband Jim died suddenly, Gordon and Alvina came out by train. If we were not leaving for Iceland in the morning - I would be attending his funeral. Know that I AM there in spirit and I share the grief of losing him. Gordon has GONE HOME.

I have fond memories of Gordon from the days of living in and visiting the Bonetrail area. When I was around 10 I was on the back of a horse with Gordon and as we started up the incline of the ditch the horse bolted and I slid off the back. Gordon laughed and helped me back on the horse.

The last time we saw Gordon was at the First Lutheran
Church in Williston for the Lutafisk dinner last Feb. After all these years Gordon taught us a new way of eating lutafisk he put some in a styrafoam cup and poured melted butter on it. We asked him why are you doing that he said "Oh, that's so the other food doesn't get mixed with it. He was a very Good Man and Good classmate we will miss him. He was very proud of his rock in Grenora!

We have such fond memories of Gordon. We are so grateful we got re-acquainted over the last few years when he stopped by Bonetraill to visit. Vicki’s mom, Lillie, always enjoyed having coffee with him at the farm and loved feeding him goodies to fatten him up. We will miss his kindness and as a family we treasured his tender care of our Mom. We send our deepest sympathy to the family. We will miss him forever.

Hugs and prayers to Gordon’s wonderful family that touched our family throughout our lives. He loved to stop in and have coffee whenever I was home and I will cherish his visits and conversations. He loved the rich history of St. Petri and Bonetraill and shared that passion with our family. He was such a kind and decent man who loved his family and loved the land he farmed. He will forever be in our hearts.

Our dear friend Gordon and a friend to many, many people. It was always GREAT to see him. I first saw him at Grenora's 100th Anniversary and had pizza with him and Charlene. We caught up with all the goings on in the Williston area. He was special to me and I was best man at he and Charlene's wedding. We have not had a lot of contact, but think about him often. I remember the very cold day that he and Charlene were married, Dec 26th and my job as best man was to make sure the car did not get decorated. I asked a local funeral home if I could hide it there. I fulfilled my duty and we chuckled about it over the years. I will miss him and think of him but will be unable to attend the service. Prayers and love to all of his family and all of the rest of us too. RIP.
