Oh, I am so sorry to hear of Betty's passing.

She was an anchor of my youth, along with all the McKenzie kids. I used to love sneaking into the basement out on 17th to hear her, Uncle Kemmer, and the gang playing and singing Country Music, back when it was real.

I remember her and Herman snuggled on the couch, too, obviously in love, while we kids messed around.

Betty had such a calm and pleasant countenance. Anyone would have been honored to call her, "Mom."

Her being gone is a sad day for me. Feels like another light of my growing-up days has dimmed... and I feel more alone as all the good ones are taken away.

Grief will descend on us all, but we have the good memories to rise above—and we will endure.
