James Lee “Jim” Tracey, 65, of Wildrose, North Dakota, passed away at the Tioga Medical Center early Saturday morning, June 10, 2017.
James Lee Tracey was born August 16, 1951 to Roy and Lyla Tracey in Williston, ND. James grew up on a farm close to Wildrose, ND and graduated in 1969 from Wildrose High School. Shortly after high school he continued his education in Grand Forks at the University of North Dakota. James graduated with an associate in Arts in 1971 and a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1976.
While he was in Grand Forks he taught for a couple of years after graduating college. One job he said he loved was helping out at the ND School of the Blind in Grand Forks. James returned to Wildrose after teaching and went to work for the BNSF railroad.
James married his wife Debra Tracey on October 27, 1990 and together they raised six children who he was very proud of. James continued working for BNSF until he retired in 2011 after working there for 33 years.
James had many interests but most of all he loved spending time with his family and enjoyed every minute of spoiling his grandkids. He was a card shark and loved to play Sudoku or anything that would challenge his mind. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was one of the most caring, patient, and kind persons. James’ smile was infectious and he brought light into everyone’s lives. James will be missed dearly by everyone.
James is survived by his loving wife, Debra Tracey of Wildrose; children, Heather Goyne of Williston; Paul (Jen) Goyne of Ray; Caroline Goyne of Dickinson; James Tracey of Wildrose; Chantel (Jordan) Vance of Ray; sisters, Patricia(Merle) Nylander of Minot; Barb (Keith) Johnson of Epping; Lyla Marie (Gene) Himmelspach of Mandan; Mary (Craig) Joraanstad of Washington, Illinois; sister-in-law, Ellayne Tracey; mother-in-law, Lillian Hewson of Bismarck; He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lyla Tracey; brothers, Joseph and Raymond; son, Arthur Goyne; father-in-law, Dewey Hewson.
