Dorthy Hokanson, 89, of Williston, passed away at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, under the care of hospice, early Saturday morning, July 29, 2017.
Dorthy Raddatz was born June 28, 1928 in Watford City, ND, to Ernest and Anna (Fisketjon) Raddatz. She graduated from Watford City High School in 1946.
On October 9, 1952, Dorthy was united in marriage to Walter Hokanson at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City.
Dorthy and Walter established their home in Williston. Dorthy taught school for two years before starting at Woolworths for eight years and as a school cook for fifteen years.
Dorthy was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church and a fifty year plus member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed reading, country music, watching Jeopardy, and musical movies. She was well known for her wonderful homemade pies.
Surviving Dorthy are numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son, Jesse; sisters, Fern Siwecki, Evelyn Sederquest and Helen Kirby; and brothers, Lyle and Donald Raddatz.
Dorthy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bethel Home and Williston Hospice for the wonderful care given to Dorthy.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 2, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston. Rev. Steve Lundblom will officiate.
Friends may call at Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 1, from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM and for the hour preceding the service at the church on Wednesday.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
