Harriet Jensen, 83, of Williston, passed away at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck on Wednesday afternoon, December 6, 2017.

Harriet Delores (Mischke) Jensen was born on May 12, 1934 to Henry and Karoline (Stirum) Mischke in Williston, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Bonetrail, and went to Fermosa #8 Mischke School until the eighth grade. She was Baptized and Confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. She helped her mother with cooking, cleaning and raising her brothers.

On August 10, 1955 she married Walter “Swede” Jensen at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Williston. Harriet was instrumental with helping “Swede” with the farming. God was always in her life through the good and the bad. Music was also a big part of her life – especially the accordion. All of her friends were important to her, she cherished her many friendships. She always had fresh baked cookies for the grandson’s even as they got older, and anyone that stopped by for coffee. She enjoyed canning, gardening, and was also an Avon representative. Playing in the musical group “Three of a Kind” with Donna Hanson and Arlys Moline was a joy to her for over 35 years. She was a true friend to her children with guidance and advice over the years. Harriet was a member of the “Women of the Moose” in Williston. She was always a part of the Meatball dinners at Our Redeemers Church. She belonged to the Church Circle group. She also served on the Mont Township Board as the Clerk for over twenty years. Her contagious smile will be missed by all who loved her. She was known to many around town as “Poopsy”! She will be missed, but never forgotten.

Harriet is survived by her son, Steve (Barb) Jensen; daughter, Charlene Jensen; grandson, Shane Jensen and great grand-child, Emma Brooke Ann Jensen; numerous nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Swede” Jensen; parents, Henry and Karoline Mischke; grandson, Steven M. Jensen; sister, Lydia Schmidt; brothers, Edwin, Willis, Harry, Howard and Herbert Mischke.
