Galen J. Germundson, 69, of Williston, most recently of Woodbury, MN, passed away at New Perspective Assisted Living Center of Woodbury on Thursday afternoon, January 4, 2018.
Galen John Germundson was born April 5, 1948, in Williston North Dakota to Orlando and Helen (Sundhagen) Germundson. He was raised in Ray, ND, was a member of Ray Lutheran Church and graduated from Ray High School in 1966. After high school, he attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis, MN studying radio broadcasting.
On July 12, 1970, he married Marilyn Benter at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Crosby. They established their home in Williston. Marilyn passed away March 9, 1990.
Galen was a born salesman. He could sell anything. He sold mobile homes for Iseman Mobile Homes for 15 years, as branch manager in Williston. He later sold insurance, and did bail bonds in Williston as well.
He enjoyed watching action movies and world news. He enjoyed going to garage sales in search of oil paintings and brass figures. He loved going for drives in his car, with the loud muffler noise and his stereo blasting country music. But what he loved more than anything was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was so proud of all of them and their accomplishments, and he told them this regularly.
Surviving Galen are his children, Jason (Jodi) Germundson, of Williston, Misti (Danielle) Germundson, Woodbury, MN and Justin (Jan) Germundson, Horace, ND; grandchildren, Jake, Noah, Tanner, and Carter Germundson of Williston and Ella, Abram, Eli and Axel Germundson, Horace, ND; siblings, Gary (Bonnie) Germundson, of Scobey, MT and Glenda (Donald) Burtman, of Wildrose, ND; His special friend, Amy Mattingly; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Galen in death were his parents, Orlando and Helen Germundson; and his wife, Marilyn.
