In 1959, Al graduated from Dickinson State Teachers College, and began his teaching career in Taylor, North Dakota. In 1961 he designed and built the family home in Williston, where he retired from his teaching career in 1981 after Charlottes untimely death.

In 2010 Al and Mary returned to Williston and lived at Bethel Home until Mary’s death in 2012.

Al moved to Brookdale Senior Living Center in 2012 and enjoyed golfing, Sunday dinners and cards with Dave and Kathy’s family, and socializing with the other residents. He was particularly fond of his card playing friends at Brookdale and was the banker and scorekeeper for the group.

After a stroke in 2015, he continued to enjoy his life at Brookdale and was well loved and cared for by the staff until his passing.

Dad, you were a gentle soul and the best father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
We will carry so many memories of family vacations every summer, frequent visits with aunts, uncles, and cousins and some of the best card games played in North Dakota!
