Her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 14, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wildrose. Rev. Zachariah Shipman will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to the Leonard P. Nelson Cancer Center in Williston, ND or the Tioga Medical Center in Tioga, ND. Delores spoke often about the wonderful care she received at both institutions and the many dedicated employees who went above and beyond to ensure her comfort. Delores will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.


Friends may call at Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM and for the hour preceding the service at the church on Wednesday.

A family service, open to the public, will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00 PM at the Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home in Williston, ND.


Interment in Wildrose Cemetery will follow the funeral service.

Delores Clara Cain, 81, of Wildrose, North Dakota, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with cancer on Wednesday evening, March 7, 2018 at the Tioga Medical Center in Tioga, North Dakota.

Delores was born August 11, 1936 in Wildrose, ND to Wendell and Lillian (Edal). She lived on a farm during her early childhood and later moved to town where she attended school in Wildrose. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Delores was united in marriage to Alan D. Cain on December 28th, 1953. They lived in Wildrose where they raised 4 children; Dale, Brian, Kelly and Scott.

She worked for the United States Postal Service most of her life where she was known as the “candy lady” to the local kids. She also supported Alan in operating Cain’s Bar which opened in 1964 and was in business for forty-four years. She retired in December, 2014. She lived with cancer and other health issues during her last years but she was a strong woman who loved life and amazed everyone with her fighting spirit.

Delores loved family and friends and took special pleasure in her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to family members gathering at her home in Wildrose each October for bird hunting and to spend time together. She enjoyed gardening, driving the countryside to enjoy beautiful ND sunsets, listening to old country music and playing cards and games. She had a particular fondness for Yahtzee and usually won. Building jigsaw puzzles was another of her favorite hobbies.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Dale (Susan) of Soldatna, AK, Brian of Wildrose, ND, Scott (Tracey) of Battleground, WA; daughter, Kelly of Minneapolis, MN; brothers, Richard of Mandan, ND, Daniel (Linda) of Eagle River, AK; sisters, Dorothy (Duane) Fenster of Williston, ND, Doris (Robert) Hedlund of Minot, ND; sister-in-law, Susan (Jim) Oerlline; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Lukas (Adrienne), Travis (Natalie), Kevnea (Adam) Edwards, Kelsey, Kami, Cassie, Stephen, Christopher, Colby, and Derrel; seven great-grandchildren, include Alex, Alanna, Ava, Arya, Easton, Emme and Finley.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alan in March, 2008; her parents, Wendell and Lillian Twete; sister, Darlene Kackman; brothers, Darrell Twete and David Twete; parents-in-law, Oliver and Pauline Cain; sister-in-law, Paula Kragness and brother-in-law, Jim Cain.
