Arnold Bauste, 93, of Williston, North Dakota, passed away Friday morning, November 2, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Williston.
Arnold Bauste was born March 2, 1925 at the family farm in New Home Township, Williams County to Ingvald and Hannah (Magnuson) Bauste, the youngest of five children. He attended elementary school in New Home Township and was baptized at St. Pauli Church south of Wildrose. He was confirmed and became a member of the Grace Lutheran church in Wildrose.
He began his career in agriculture as a young man and farmed until he retired at 70 years old in 1995, all the time in partnership with his brother Wendell. He lived on the family homestead until 2013 and then moved to Williston, spending the summer of 2014 on the farm. He and his brother Wendell worked in Washington at a saw mill and then to Illinois to work in the steel mills and then back to Washington working in the ship yards all during the off seasons of farming.
He met Virginia Coleman of Lancaster, Minnesota and they were united in marriage on September 1, 1954 at Sion Lutheran Church in Lancaster. They lived on the family farm where they raised three children. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. Arnold enjoyed traveling, he and Virginia traveled through most of the United States and parts of Canada. Arnold also loved to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and learn through the years.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Virginia; their children Jolene (Kim) Overdorf of Tioga, ND: Dan (Wendy) Bauste of Williston, ND; and Lori (Mark) Williams of Camarillo, CA; Grandchildren – Dustin Bauste (Breann Self), Devin (Ashley) Bauste, Jana Bauste, and Sean Williams; Great Grandchildren – Dillon Bauste, Autumn Bauste and Kaeden Bauste; sister-in-laws, Iva Bauste and Amy Bauste; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wendell, Earl and Lloyd and his wife, Irene; his sister, Ina and her husband, Maynard Heath; and nephew, Larry Bauste.
