While trying to find his way through life and experience what it had to offer him Sonny worked many trades throughout Illinois, Wyoming, Montana and then finally back home to North Dakota where he spent 20 years working alongside his best bud, Mike Peterson at Borsheim Crane.
He would brag that Mike and himself were the best men for the job.
Sonny was united in marriage to Gloria Bartlette on June 28th of 1991. With that marriage Sonny acquired three children Darren, Elaine and Sandy.
In 2006 Sonny purchased K&G's No Place, where he worked alongside Gloria until the spring of 2017.
Sonny had a great love for music it was very much a part of his life and shared with many. He played guitar and acquired quite a selection through the years but his 12-string acoustic was his favorite.
Sonny mostly enjoy jamming with friends and making up a song or two along the way. He was jokingly known for only singing half a song. Sonny's daughters remember all the songs he would make up for them when they were young. Sonny also loved to read. He would finish a good novel in less than 3 days and then on to the next book. The past few years Sonny and several of his friends worked on restoring his black Chevy hot rod truck. His greatest love was for his Choppers and his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, flying down the road with the wind on his back.
If you ever met him you definitely had a friend for life, it didn’t matter where you came from as he welcomed all into his circle. He loved people and lived his life to the fullest. Sonny was diagnosed with stomach cancer a few years ago and recently a new form of cancer had showed up. He fought a courageous battle with it until the end. Sonny touched many with his words of wisdom.
