Nadine G. Bloomquist, 53, of Williston, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.
Nadine Sukut Bloomquist was born on April 12, 1964 in Fairmont, Minnesota, the second of three daughters blessed to the marriage of Gary and Leora Sukut. The family moved to Williston, ND in May of 1964.
Nadine was educated in Williston, graduating from Williston High School in 1982. She began her higher education at UND-W for two years. The next summer she was spending time with friends, sitting on a teeter totter when suddenly she went flying through the air and when she landed she had a broken jaw. She spent the rest of that summer working at the Upper Missouri Bible Camp talking with her jaw wired shut and eating only what could pass through a straw. Nadine finished her bachelor’s degree in education at UND. While at UND Nadine met her future husband, Dan Bloomquist, in a ballroom dance class. They were married on June 20, 1987. Nadine and Dan are blessed with three children, Zachary Bloomquist, Castle Rock, CO, Alyssa Bloomquist, Fargo, ND and Kayla Bloomquist, Williston, ND.
The early years in their working careers started in Grafton, ND. Opportunity soon brought the couple to the Minneapolis area where Nadine went through the sign language interpreter program at St. Paul Tech. Later, that education brought the couple to Missoula, MT where Nadine worked as an interpreter at the University of Montana. Eventually she taught as an interpreter for the Missoula Public Schools. The next stop was Colorado where Dan had an opportunity to work with his brother in the electrical contracting business; Nadine continued to work in education, as well as interpreting for various events. After a few years the couple moved back to Missoula where Nadine continued to work in education. The final move brought the couple to Williston where Nadine began teaching reading and math in the Williston Public Schools.
Nadine’s life revolved around her family. She was very dedicated to her employer, “her kids” and her colleagues, but family trumped all for Nadine. She loved very deeply, without exception or judgement. Relationships were what meant the most to Nadine; she longed to have deep connections with those she loved. The things of this world were not what fulfilled Nadine, faith; family and fitness were what truly completed her. We thank God for blessing us with Nadine for the time that we had her and we look forward to dancing with her in heaven one day. And of course, we’ll be sure to have a Dairy Queen.
Nadine is survived by her husband, Dan; children, Zachary, Alyssa and Kayla; parents, Gary and Leora Sukut, sisters Tammy (Jeff) Zola, Kathy (Craig) Aasved, mother-in-law Vonnie Bloomquist, brothers-in-law Mark Bloomquist (Nona), Jon Bloomquist (Sarah), Tim Bloomquist (Sue) and many nieces and nephews she adored, as well as great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
